Indulge in the Emotional Landscapes of Doron Karavani’s Time to Rise and Join a Melodic Journey That Promises Transformation
Singer/songwriter Doron Karavani, hailing from Yemen and now based in Helsinki, Finland, brings his unique blend of Indie Pop to the forefront with his highly anticipated 9-track album Time to Rise. The project showcases nine intensely personal and haunting songs, each reflecting Karavani’s intricate life experiences and a rich tapestry of musical influences. With his unique background of living near Tel Aviv and a deep connection to Mediterranean cultures, Karavani’s music offers a vibrant and transformative auditory experience that stands out in the Indie Pop scene.
Doron Karavani’s journey to music started unexpectedly. Influenced by his brother’s guitar lessons and his own travels on the hippie trail in India, Karavani’s love for music blossomed early. As a testament to his dedication, this album is a poignant mix of Bedroom Pop and Contemporary Pop, ensuring it resonates deeply with audiences.
“Each track in Time to Rise serves as a testament to Doron’s intuitive understanding of blending African, Arabian, Jewish, Indian, Greek, and Turkish music,” praises our team at PopHits.Co. “His ability to interweave these elements seamlessly sets his work apart from the rest.”

Recorded at Magnusborg Studios in Porvoo by Marco Kataja, Time to Rise features an ensemble of talented Porvoo-connected musicians including Rob Dominis on keyboards, Niklas Mansner on electric guitar, Thomas Törnroos on drums, and Janne Rajala on bass. Kalevi Louhivuori’s trumpet and piano further enrich the album’s sound, Heikki Tuhkanen’s trombone, William Suvanne’s alto sax, and even backing vocals from Karavani’s daughters.
An undeniably compelling element is the decision to record the tracks live, capturing the raw and authentic essence of Karavani’s vision. “We didn’t spend much time laying down basic tracks, First I sent everybody my acoustic demos” Karavani reveals, “The first take was usually the best, and two takes were enough.”
The album offers a compelling array of songs like “Catch Me If You Can”, “Only Love”, “Not Tonight”, and the titular “Time to Rise”. Each composition serves as a manifesto for change, urging listeners to reflect and take action in their own lives. “Every time I need to let something go, especially if I’m feeling down, I grab my guitar and make a song,” Karavani shares. This therapeutic approach to songwriting ensures that each track is not just music but an experience, akin to listening to the emotionally rich songs of artists like Sufjan Stevens or Bon Iver.
Karavani’s ability to evoke profound emotion and thought through his work makes Time to Rise a must-listen. An invitation for self-reflection and transformation, this album is more than just an auditory experience; it’s an emotional journey. “If someone listens to the album,” Karavani muses, “I’d like them to think ‘Hey, that’s right, I’d better do something with my life. If I fail, I have to get up and start again!’”
