Julia Kate Brings 80’s New Wave To Life In “Fake Friends”
A Blondie concert two years ago sparked the idea for “Fake Friends.” This show lit her interest in 80’s female led New Wave groups which she now adds to her music. The song keeps that classic feel but adds emotional depth plus current themes that fit 2025.
Julia Kate performs at LA spots like The Hotel Café as well as The Mint to grow her fanbase. Between shows she focuses on her studies at Berklee to improve her songwriting skills. Her hard work shows in songs like “Fake Friends” where her talent really shines.

“Fake Friends” stands out from other pop rock songs as it reflects gen z struggles. The lyrics speak about fake friendships in social media times. “All I know is fake friends make me feel so alone” captures how people feel isolated despite constant connections.
