Behind the Scenes: The Collaborative Process of ‘Bonnet’
Abe worked with D. Professor, a producer from Kansas City who handled all instruments, and Matthew Sawicki, an engineer from Suburban Pro Studios in St Louis, to complete “Bonnet.” Abe wrote the words, set the vocal parts next to sang every vocal part, including the backup.
The session at Suburban Pro Studios went smoothly as Abe concentrated on song harmonies with clear vocal direction. A strong piano segment appears in the second verse. The piano part adds a personal tone suited for a bedroom playlist.

Abe takes hints from Justin Timberlake‘s harmonies and tunes, H.E.R.‘s calm guitar sounds, plus Usher‘s warm tone besides deeper voice when he raps. This mix with Abe’s own style makes “Bonnet” stand out.
Abe explains, “This is a song about truly wanting someone without hiding the feeling. I show that I need more with this person, not just physical closeness.”
