The Eternal Flame of You Puts Sdoku Between Eighties Synths and Indie Guitars
A Seventeen Year Old From Potenza Writing Ballads for Dreamers and Overthinkers
sdoku built the eternal flame of you out of atmospheric guitars and analog-style synths. It is a ballad, so it takes its time. The seventeen year old from Potenza released it on 22 May 2026, and it has kept collecting listeners ever since. That is why it earned a slot in our Love Songs, Ballads, Soft Pop playlist.
sdoku features in the playlist below, and the writing that has followed each release sits on the artist’s own profile. The Eternal Flame of You reached this desk through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news desks. Listen first; the reading can wait five minutes.
Guitars Carry The Eternal Flame Of You Before The Synths Arrive
the eternal flame of you sits between indie pop and pop rock. Instead of chasing a hook in the first fifteen seconds, it is built as a ballad. First, the guitars hold the harmonic weight. Then analog-style synth tones fill the space above them, and the arrangement widens rather than accelerates. That is why it survives repeat listens: nothing is spent early.
The subject is a love that holds up under pressure. sdoku writes it as a connection that survives uncertainty and bad weather. In other words, it is not one that peaks and burns out. Moreover, the cinematic storytelling in the lyric stays fixed on one person and never reaches for a universal moral. In fact, specificity does the work that adjectives usually get handed.
He has been open about how much of himself went into it. “I poured a lot of myself into ‘the eternal flame of you,’ and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see it connect with listeners,” sdoku said. “I’m thrilled it continues to find new ears.”
PopHits.News curator team: “What put this in our rotation is the restraint. The synths sit under the guitars instead of competing with them. The ballad tempo also means the song reads clearly at low volume on a phone speaker. As a result, it matters more for playlist life than a loud chorus does.”
The Influenced Pop Blueprint sdoku Built From 80s Synths And Indie Guitars
sdoku calls what he makes “influenced pop”. He is precise about the ingredients: eighties synths, indie guitars, disco grooves and lyrics that lead with feeling. Above all, he aims them at what he describes as dreamers, overthinkers and nightwalkers. His own tagline, “pop songs for emotional damage”, tells you which half of that recipe leads.
Importantly, the mix was a decision rather than an accident. “The blend of pop, indie, and alt-pop was intentional to create something truly distinct that reflects my artistic vision,” he said. He also works alone, and the rough edges are deliberate. “I’m starting to like when things sound slightly imperfect. It makes the whole thing more human.”
Growing up in southern Italy shaped the mood more than the sound. “There’s this mix of warmth and distance,” sdoku has said of the place. He frames it as an influence on how he handles nostalgia, not as a set of Italian musical references. Mainstream pop should feel spontaneous, he says. In short, he wants records that come across as wide and, in his words, “intimate at the same time”.
Why Fans Of The 1975 And Arctic Monkeys Will Recognise This Record
sdoku names his reference points openly, and they map onto the parts of this single. The 1975 are the closest fit. Specifically, he has pointed at their modern production textures. What he borrows is their trick of pairing danceable indie pop with writing that refuses to be ironic about feelings. That is the register the eternal flame of you works in.
Second, Arctic Monkeys account for the guitars. He grew up on them. Because of that, the jangle and bite in his six-string parts come from that lineage rather than a synth-pop template. It is also why the ballad still has edges.
Finally, The Weeknd explains the other half. The eighties synth palette and the disco pulse that run through sdoku’s catalogue sit in territory that After Hours and Dawn FM made mainstream again. Even so, sdoku uses those tones for warmth rather than menace.
If those three are already in your rotation, this is a straightforward addition. The listener sdoku writes for goes looking for new names. They do not wait for radio to hand them one, and they want a pop record that carries a real feeling without apologising for being catchy.
sdoku And The Eternal Flame Of You Two Months After Release
the eternal flame of you is not sdoku’s first release. His debut album infinite moments arrived in 2025 with nine tracks. In addition, he produced all of it and designed the visuals himself. The singles gambling and never stop believing followed. He has also picked up regular airplay on a British independent station, which is steadier traction than a viral week.
Similarly, the single has behaved the same way. Interest built through June and July rather than spiking in May. As a result, that profile suits a long-running playlist. Editors who missed it on release week have therefore lost nothing by arriving late.
Meanwhile, coverage has followed too. Thomathy Entertainment reviewed this single. Life on Jupiter Magazine, SoundCheck Mag and The Flip Side have all covered the album that preceded it.
You can stream the eternal flame of you on Spotify. To follow what sdoku does next, he is on Instagram, TikTok, his YouTube channel, Apple Music and SoundCloud. Finally, every release link sits in one place on his Linktree.
