Paying More Is the Point at Chappell Roan’s Super Graphic Spectacular

The tickets cost more than a usual Chappell Roan show, and she said so up front. Announcing the Super Graphic Spectacular in August, Roan told fans the two nights had been priced higher than usual because the money is going to charity, Rolling Stone reported. The event takes over the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on 21 and 22 October, and all net proceeds go to the Midwest Princess Project, the nonprofit she launched in 2025 to support trans youth and LGBTQ+ communities.

The two nights are built around a special Chappell Roan headline performance, in a year she has mostly spent out of the spotlight. Her Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things tour closed in March, and she has released no new music since the 2025 singles “The Giver” and “The Subway”. The Shrine shows wrap her return in drag, comedy, guest appearances and a volunteer drive.

What the Super Graphic Spectacular Is

The official event page describes a two-day Los Angeles charity fundraiser with live entertainment, volunteer opportunities, community engagement and a special Chappell Roan headline performance. Both nights are listed on AXS with an 8pm start at the Shrine Auditorium, 665 West Jefferson Boulevard, and both are marked all ages.

Roan’s own pitch was looser. On social media she promised drag, dance, guests, surprises and fun, and said she would be doing a special performance as well. The release behind the announcement said the event would bring together artists, fans, drag performers, comedians and advocates, with headlining performances from Roan and collaborators on both nights, according to Variety. Each night is set to carry live performances, guest appearances, drag artistry and comedy.

The name is a nod to her catalogue. “Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl” is track six on The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, the 2023 debut album whose title also echoes in the name of her nonprofit. That album climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in August 2024, and Roan has landed nine songs on the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard reports.

What the bill does not have yet is a published supporting line-up. Billboard reported in August that the line-up and special guests would be revealed at a later date, and the official page still names only Roan. For now the surprises she promised are still surprises.

Why the Tickets Cost More Than Usual

Roan did not hide the pricing. When registration opened, she said the tickets had been priced higher than usual for charity, and she paired that with Fair AXS, a registration system she said was there to keep bots and scalpers out so that real fans could buy, Rolling Stone reported.

The process ran in stages. Pre-registration opened on 7 August at 10am PT and closed on 11 August at 8.59pm PT, according to Variety. Selected fans were to be notified from 17 August, Time Out reported, and ticket sales ran in waves from 18 to 20 August. Registration did not guarantee a ticket, Time Out noted, and Billboard reported that fans picked to buy would receive a private purchase link.

That leaves one route for anyone who missed out. Both AXS listings now show an AXS Official Resale option alongside the primary ticket offer, so the official exchange is the place to look first.

Where the Money Goes

All net proceeds go to the Midwest Princess Project, which Roan founded in 2025 to uplift trans youth and LGBTQ+ communities through action, care and connection, according to its page. The project says it has raised more than $800,000 and supported more than 60 organisations working to make life healthier, happier and safer for LGBTQ+ people. Variety reports that the money so far came from donations and from the proceeds of Roan’s Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things pop-up shows.

The partner list is specific. Time Out names the Ali Forney Center, the LGBT Center, the TransLatin@ Coalition and the Trans Wellness Center, along with Backline, which provides mental health resources to people who work in the music industry. PinkNews adds The Center Project in Missouri, the state Roan comes from, and describes the Ali Forney Center as a service for LGBTQ+ young people experiencing homelessness.

The Super Graphic Spectacular is the project’s flagship annual fundraiser, Time Out reports, and it marks a full year since the organisation began. PinkNews set it against a wider squeeze, noting that LGBTQ+ organisations across the US continue to face pressure on funding and resources. That context is why the pricing matters: a higher ticket price is the most direct way to make every seat in the room raise more.

A Fundraiser With Volunteer Shifts Built In

The part that makes this different from a benefit gig is the time it asks of the audience. Time Out says the event includes hands-on volunteer opportunities supporting local LGBTQ+ organisations, so fans contribute work as well as money. The official page adds that representatives from local nonprofits that provide direct services for trans youth will be on site to meet fans and share resources, with tabling spots offered to Los Angeles groups.

There is also a charity auction, with the project inviting items and experiences to be submitted, and a city guide that steers visitors towards queer-owned and LGBTQ+-friendly businesses across Los Angeles. Its picks include Fan Girl Cafe in West Hollywood, a coffee shop that champions women, non-binary and LGBTQ+ artists; Liberation Coffee House, which supports the Los Angeles LGBT Center; The Ripped Bodice, a women- and queer-owned romance bookshop in Culver City; and the Black Cat Tavern on Sunset Boulevard, a historic stop in LGBTQ+ history.

Away from Los Angeles, the project lists year-round volunteer openings with partner groups in more than a dozen cities, from the Ruth Ellis Center in Detroit and Brave Space Alliance in Chicago to PROMO Missouri in Springfield and Kaleidoscope Youth Center in Columbus. The Shrine is the flagship, but the invitation runs well beyond one weekend in one city.

Back on Stage After a Quiet Year

The Shrine nights follow a slow return. Roan appeared at the Grammy Awards in February, her tour ended with a closing show in São Paulo in March, and Variety says she has largely been out of the spotlight since. Billboard notes a few festival appearances in February and May and a guest spot at Noah Kahan’s Rose Bowl Stadium concert in early August, but otherwise a year spent away from the public eye as she presumably works on the follow-up to her debut.

Her first full set in months came on 29 August at Daisy Chain Fields, the all-women charity festival Olivia Rodrigo staged at Great Park in Irvine. Roan played a 40-minute set on the Dandelion Stage, and afterwards thanked Rodrigo on Instagram, calling her inspiring and praising artists who use their platform for good. Rodrigo announced that $20 million had been donated through the Daisy Chain Fields Fund to partner nonprofits working for women and girls, USA Today reported.

The two artists go back a long way. Roan opened for Rodrigo on both the Sour Tour in 2022 and the Guts World Tour in 2024, and both have worked with producer Dan Nigro, Billboard notes. Two charity stages in two months suggest a shape for this stretch of Roan’s career: fewer shows, each one tied to a cause she can name.

What to Know Before You Go

The essentials are simple. The Super Graphic Spectacular runs on Wednesday 21 October and Thursday 22 October at the Shrine Auditorium, 665 West Jefferson Boulevard, Los Angeles, with both nights listed for 8pm. AXS lists the shows as all ages, which suits an event that is as much a community day as a concert.

Accessibility questions go to the venue. The event page says accessibility and inclusivity are top priorities and that the Shrine team is working to make sure all guests can fully enjoy the show, and it points fans to the venue’s own accessibility information. Anyone travelling in can use the city guide to plan the hours around the show.

“Most pop pricing stories are about keeping costs down. This one raises the price in the open and names exactly who gets the difference,” the PopHits News curator team said.

It is a different answer to a question other pop stars are answering too. Charli XCX went the other way on her arena run, opening with $20 Angel Tickets and charity seats in the first five rows. Roan’s version asks the buyer to pay above her usual rate and tells them exactly where the margin goes. Both use the price to say something about who a show is for; they simply put the generosity on different sides of the transaction.

For a singer who has released no new music since 2025, the Shrine shows are the clearest look fans will get this autumn at what Chappell Roan does next on stage. The ticket costs more, the reason is printed on the event page, and every net dollar has somewhere to go.
