10 Indie Pop Songs To Update your Music Playlist For The Next Weekend

Will Lisil 9 August 2022

Do you love indie pop music? So do I! If you’re like me, then you’ve been looking for new music to add to your playlist this week.

Have you ever heard of a music genre that was so smooth and fresh, and wondered what music it was? Well, last weekend we tested some indie-pop songs that we would like to share with you.

Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not something you want to add to your classical playlist, it’s different, the beats are pretty good and there is something refreshing about it!

Light and refreshing, indie pop music transports listeners to another world. This genre is considered alternative and has characteristics that differentiate it from other genres such as R&B, EDM, and rock.

Indie pop doesn’t require a lot of instruments to create solid beats which make the genre more efficient, giving more freedom for the use of creativity, and we love it!

You can listen to our full playlist which contains the artists’ music, and know more about the artists by scrolling down the page.

1) KAISA RYA – Lips

The latest single from KAISA RYA, Lips, is a perfect example of why she’s one of the best up-and-coming pop artists in Germany right now. Her voice has that unique blend of smoothness and edge that makes for excellent dance music, but her lyrics are also smart and thought-provoking.

The song starts with a slow build but then hits you with an electronic beat that will have you dancing around your room as soon as you hear it. The lyrics are about wanting somebody that is trying to hide his interest in you—a common theme in many pop songs these days, but still one that feels fresh here: “You can’t deny what your body’s saying”.

KAISA RYA’s sound is a mix of electronic dance music and alternative rock; her voice has a slight twang to it that gives it an edge over other female singers working today. She’s based in Hamburg, Germany, so if you’re looking for some European culture with your music (or just want to support independent artists), this is definitely one artist to check out and follow the artist on Spotify.

2) MONROE & MORALEZZ – How!? Feat. Zach Sorgen

MONROE & MORALEZZ are an indie pop duo based in Bregenz, Austria. Their latest single, “How!? Feat. Zach Sorgen” has all the elements of a good pop song: catchy vocals, a groovy beat, and an uplifting message. The song is about how can we have the person we want, it says that sometimes “we have to break the rules”.

The song starts off with a piano beat that reminds me of many famous Netflix series’ theme songs directed to a young audience. It then transitions into a vocal dance track with heavy bass that gets me moving every time I listen to it!

The lyrics are super catchy and easy to sing along with; it’s hard not to feel like dancing when this song comes on! I love how they incorporated some funky sound into their chorus as well; it adds a lot of depth to the track while still staying true to its roots as a dance tune. Check it out on Spotify!

3) MOON AND ARIES – Paradise

If you’re looking for some new music to listen to, we’ve got just the thing. MOON AND ARIES‘ new EP, Paradise, is a collection of songs that will make you feel like you’re on an island, watching the sunset with your best friends.

The duo is based in Germany and has been creating music for some time, they have the right experience for this kind of project. Their sound is electronic pop with a hint of synth-pop and opera style, which makes for an interesting combination that’s perfect for fans of contemporary music.

They also have 80’s electronic vibes and cinematic influences that are sure to delight listeners who are looking for something different from their usual fare. You have five tracks to choose from, but our favourite is the song Paradise, it’s dreamy and lovely.

The vocals are female-fronted, making them ideal for those who love relaxing listening experiences that also put them in a good mood! If you’re looking for an easy way to get into a more relaxed state while still enjoying some excellent tunes, look no further than MOON AND ARIES’ Paradise EP, follow them on Spotify!

4) MATTHEW JOSEPH – Bleach Blonde

Matthew Joseph is an artist from Holyhead, Wales. He released a single called “Bleach Blonde” in the UK last month. It is a reflection of his own personal experiences and serves as a statement on his journey, going from a wannabe singer to a pop star, and finalist in an important music festival. The good thing is that this happened for real.

He produced and wrote the lyrics alone in two days, working with producer Chris Hall. During the SoundWaves music competition, he made the finals and performed at the O2 Birmingham due to his efforts to establish himself in the pop music industry. It’s working Matthew, keep going!

The song is reminiscent of Art Pop and has a commercial feel to it. The lyrics are Eurovision style, and anthemic, but they are also quirky and super edgy. Joseph’s works approach LGBTQ themes and how love can be found outside of societal norms.

Matthew Joseph’s music is influenced by UK culture and Welsh origin. He has been singing vocal dance for some time and is inspired by Madonna, Britney and Justin Bieber. His music is the perfect blend of EDM with pop sensibilities that will appeal to anyone who loves catchy tunes with heartwarming lyrics. Check it out and follow the artist on Spotify!

5) MIKE AND MANDY – Shelter In Place

When it comes to indie pop music, there’s no better place to find it than on Spotify. That’s why we’re excited about MIKE AND MANDY, an LA-based duo who just dropped their five-track EP Shelter In Place. It’s interesting, they could cover topics like pandemics, lockdowns, vaccinations and the tragic world experience in beautiful songs, but they don’t lean on sadness or depression; they actually lift you up!

If you love folktronica, dream pop, and guitar dreamy mellow vibes then this is the EP for you. From the first track “Are You Now” all the way through “Love Song” you’ll be transported somewhere between Earth and a world where everything is made of a great mix of music genres, such as dream pop, soft rock, electronic and folk. You’ll want to go here every day—it’s that good!

The real highlight of this 5-track EP is how MANDY’s vocals combine with MIKE’s production skills. Her voice is so dreamy and sweet—you’ll listen again and again just because she sounds so beautiful! And if that isn’t enough reason for you (and it should be), then think about how good this will sound when played at your next party. Check it out and follow the duo on Spotify!

6) DRAGNFLY INDUSTRI – Ghost

DRAGNFLY INDUSTRI is coming with her first single, and it’s a good one. With a sound that merges pop, rock, and soul, this Aussie artist has crafted an anthem that will have you singing along in no time. Think of Enya’s style mixed with pop beats.

The song opens with a nice division of voices, then a soft guitar intro before giving way to a powerful chorus where the vocals soar over synths and drums. The lyrics are simple but effective and the song is catchy as hell and will get stuck in your head for days—in the best way possible!

It’s the kind of song that makes you want to relax, it’s easy listening to at its best, but it also packs an emotional punch. We can’t wait to see what else DRAGNFLY INDUSTRI has up her sleeve! Check it and follow the artist on Spotify.

7) RYLAI – Issues (Can You Let Go Of Me?)

RYLAI is a singer-songwriter based in Seoul, South Korea. He has been making music for some time but started releasing on Spotify this year, this is his second single. His latest single, Issues (Can You Let Go Of Me?), is a soft pop song with commercial appeal that you’re going to want to check out ASAP.

His voice is sweet and smooth, with a bit of a raspy edge that gives it an edge over other singers in his genre. His lyrics are easy to relate to—they’re about love and relationships, but not too heavy or depressing for those who want something more upbeat.

The track has an easy listening vibe with US and Asian influences: there are hints of R&B as well as neo-soul throughout the song. It’s relaxing and super catchy at the same time!

If you are looking for a piece of romantic and sexy music for a special moment or just want to relax, check it out and follow the artist on Spotify!

8) TALLY KOREN – Hallelujah(72 Names)

I recently discovered the new single from indie pop artist Tally Koren, and I’m blown away. The track is called “Hallelujah (72 Names)”. This song is more than a simple tribute to God; it’s an anthem for anyone who has ever felt like their life couldn’t get better.

“Hallelujah (72 Names)” is dreamy and ethereal, but also super catchy—it’ll get stuck in your head for days. It’s got elements of both traditional pop music and electronic pop, so it feels familiar while still having something new to offer.

It’s perfect for the times when you need to relax or recharge after a long day of work or school—but don’t worry: this song will also make you feel happy and energetic! There is a whole choir on it, be prepared for their powerful voices.

If you love dream pop music with female vocals, Europe culture influences, gospel vibes, and super catchy electronic pop jams that are just waiting to be played at festivals all over the world… then check out Tally Koren’s new single “Hallelujah (72 Names)”. Follow them on Spotify, you won’t regret it!

9) WRENÉ – Trib Al

WRENÉ‘s new single “Trib Al” is a pop experimental track that combines elements of synth-pop, Avant-Garde, Electronic and Dark-Pop. The song is an ode to the Canadian city of Toronto.

The artist WRENÉ is based in Toronto where the culture is diverse, so the producers of PopHits.Co described her sound as darkwave with synthpop elements, which results in a piece of dreamy electronic music. They just loved the mix of genres and the way she express her voice above it all.

She uses a lot of synthesizers in her songs which adds an eerie effect to her music. Her voice has been compared to artists such as Kate Bush or Björk because it sounds so unique and bold when combined with the electronic sounds in her songs. It also reminded us of Evanescence, even though it might not be a rock song in the traditional sense.

“Trib Al” starts off with a simple beat that builds up slowly until we get into the first verse where we hear some nice synths mixed together with some drums and a video game-style bass effect, which makes this song stand out from other pop songs out there right now! It could be a soundtrack of famous games for sure. Check it out and follow the artist on Spotify.

10) SARANTOS – I Wish

If you’re in the mood for some dreamy, synth-heavy pop music with a little bit of an 80’s vibe thrown in, then you should check out Sarantos‘ new single “I Wish”. Even if it’s not your music style, listen to it as this is a project with purpose, it is representing a charity and a great cause.

It’s got all the hallmarks of indie pop: catchy beats but relaxing, and just enough synthy goodness to make your heart soar. And if that weren’t enough, Sarantos is based in Chicago, so you know he knows what he’s doing when it comes to making pop music.

If you’re looking for something new to listen to this weekend while you’re hanging out with friends, then look no further than Sarantos’ new single “I Wish.” Check it out and follow the artist on Spotify!
