From Avan-Garde to Jazz and Rock: Ourida’s Eclectic Album “Wings” Is a Collection of Diverse Melodic Grooves
One of the great things about music is you can always find something new and exciting to listen to, no matter what type of music you’re into. If you love fearless artists making dreamy guitar tracks, then you’ll enjoy Ourida’s new album.
Ourida’s eclectic album “Wings” is a storm of good tunes that will make you rethink creative independent artists, and focus on those with an amazing sense of freedom to innovate, reinvent and make an intriguing mix of music genres.
The American singer-songwriter, Ourida, has been making music for years and her career’s background reflects in her new album. Her latest release, Wings, is a 12-track album that showcases her eclectic sound and ability to create dreamy compositions with soulful guitar melodies.
Ourida’s new project is an album that has a bit of everything and fits the ears of different audiences—so why not give it a listen?
Ourida’s music is influenced by many genres including avant-garde, art rock, jazz, world music, lo-fi pop and singer-songwriter. She started her music career years ago but decided to rebrand it in Brooklyn where she currently lives today. So, there is a wide variety of cultures in Brooklyn and their influence on the streets can be felt by all.
As her songs weave together Algerian roots, American modernism, and French chanson, the dichotomy of cultural roots can be perceived as a common ground in Ourida’s avant-garde songwriting – a mix of folk rock with art pop melodies and world beat undertones, all woven with subtle jazz grooves.

The album was co-produced by Eli Crews (tUnE-yArDs, Marc Ribot), and “Wings” can be described as a sensual, yet sophisticated, album of indie art-pop songs – that are also alt-rock songs – full of imagery about multicultural life and women’s freedom of expression, mixing folk-rock melodies and jazz groove with a touch of world music.
The producers from PopHits.Co made positive comments and described Ourida’s album as focusing on the old-school aspect:
“We loved the old-school style and this is something that’s very welcome in the music industry right now in 2022. Wings is an album full of beautiful melodies that will keep you relaxed and nostalgic at the same time.”.
The songs on this record are filled with dreamy vibes and soulful vocals which makes them ideal for rainy days when all you want to do is stay inside your home with some hot tea or coffee while listening to your favourite tunes.
Our favourite track is Blues, which will fit the music liking of retro pop and fans of Paloma Faith too, but as mentioned you have 12 different pieces of good music to taste and enjoy. Check it out, visit her website and follow the artist on Spotify.
